The USGA is now accepting volunteers for the 2010 US Open at Pebble Beach June 14-20.

February Golf in Paso Robles

Our lovely February hostesses brought treats for us! Aren't we lucky to be able to play golf in February.

A Note from Maureen

February and Valentines Day (that means chocolate!) and hopefully beautiful sunny days for golf. Due to a scheduling conflict the date for our Invitational has been moved from May 8th to May 15th. Your hard-working Grape Escape team have met twice this year and planning is well underway for this event. The entry fee will be the same as last year -- $89.

Looking forward to March as we start our Club Championship on the 10th and April brings us to our beloved DDM Days. So much to look forward to!

Don't forget to sign up for our first General Meeting of the year on February 24th.

January Couples Tournament - Jan. 11th, 2009

The Format was a NET Irish Stapleford. One Best Ball First 6 holes, Two BB holes 7-11, Three BB holes 12-15 and Four BB holes 16-18 all converted to Stapleford Points for a total team Score.

We had 7 foursomes competing. There was a tie for third place with a score of 49 by the teams of: Al & Nancy Moore and Don Lipp & Jane Villafana ;
and Charles & Rene'e Rahilly and Don Winegarden & Helen Bourquin.

The second place winners were John & Grace Bergin and Jeff & Suzanne Weidler with a Team Score of 52.

The First Place Team with a winning score of 54 was Mike Booth, Gaye Mayfield, Rod Peargin, and Jayne Donkin.

Closest to the Pins were on #4 for Women won by:

A Note From Maureen

Happy 2009 Everyone! We begin the New Year with our first Ace of the Month and Skins game January 6th. Another year to shine and whine! I must try and do more “shining.” Our first PRWGA Board meeting is January 13th after golf. We’re going to get organized and ready for a fun-filled year.

Don’t forget to grab your partner and sign up for Couples Tournament Sunday January 11th.

June McClain at Kolob Canyon, near St. George, Utah.

For those of you who know June McClain, she recently sent a letter to me to be shared with the members, along with a photo. I'll post both on the bulletin board, for those who don't have computers.

June reports that she is busy going on bus trips to scenic sights around St. George, playing Bingo, and going out to lunch. She enjoys visitors, and receiving cards and letters. She moved to a new apartment, but is still in the same complex. Her new address is: 134 W. 2025 S #126, Saint George, Utah 84770.

Members Assigned New GHIN Handicap Numbers

As of December 1, 2008 all regular members who have paid their dues have been assigned GHIN
(Golf Handicap Information Network) numbers which will be used from this date forward for posting scores. There is no need to post to the Pub Links computer unless you belong to a Pub Links club such as Chalk Mountain or Morro Bay. If this applies, you may continue to post on the Pub Links computer until January 1. After that date the computer at Paso will be disabled. You can have your Pub Links handicap number linked to your GHIN number so that scores posted at Paso will be transferred to your Pub Links club. This is probably as clear as mud, so if you have any questions you can call Clare, Jean Hayward or Pat Gabler.

Christmas Party

Don't forget to sign up for the annual Christmas Party/Luncheon which will be held on Friday, December 19th. We will be collecting donations to our local Food Bank, and/or an Animal humane society, so bring some extra $$ to donate to the charity of your choice (or both!)

A Note From Our Prez

December already! Only a few weeks left in 2008 and the end of my first year as President. I want to sincerely thank all of you for everything you have done to help me learn how to do this job. It has truly been a fun year but I couldn't have done it without your help!

Moving forward we have some fun golf to look forward to this month. The first Tuesday, December 2nd, is Ace of the Month and your last chance to qualify for Ace of the Year playoffs on December 9th. Don't forget the Christmas Party on the 19th. Our dining room will be decked in Christmas tradition, thanks to Kay, Pam and Sally. We will congratulate Ace of the Year, Player of the Year, Most Improved Player for 2008 and everyone who won birdies and chip-ins during the year. This year Christmas cash donations will go to our local Food Bank and/or Woods Humane Society Animal Shelter.

The December Board meeting kicked off some planning for the 2009 Grape Escape and early planning for the year ahead. I'm looking forward to a great New Year!
